Apple accused of bullying teenagers with Android smartphones

Google VP of Android, Chrome OS, Play, Photos and Chrome Hiroshi Lockheimer has criticized Apple for its iMessage policy. He accuses the company of using iMessage to sell more iPhones.

He also linked Apple's strategy to encouraging bullying teenagers using Android smartphones. In the US and around the world, he said, young people with Android smartphones feel alienated from their iPhone peers.

He cites an email from an Apple representative that surfaced during a lawsuit with Epic. In a letter, the Apple CEO stated that “bringing iMessage to Android will hurt us more than it will help us.”

A similar comment was made by the senior vice president of software development at Apple, who stated that “iMessage on Android will simply remove the barrier for iPhone families who give their kids Android phones. ”
