This was stated by Prime Minister Yair Lapid following a meeting with Minister of Internal Security Omer Bar-Lev. “At the meeting, we emphasized that the procedure for opening fire by the police has not changed, any policeman can open fire to kill when he is in a life-threatening situation,” Lapid said. According to the head of government, he fully supports the police and other security forces in their fight against crime and terrorism, and also highly appreciates their daily activities to ensure the safety of citizens. “At the meeting, we also discussed the situation with the fight against crime in the Arab sector and further ways to invest the resources needed to continue the fight. We also discussed additional tasks for the Department of Homeland Security that are on the agenda,” Lapid added.
