Anthony Hopkins in follow-up to his Oscar-winning film ‘The Father’ | Movie
In ‘The Father’ Hopkins plays a man who suffers from dementia. The film is based on the play of the same name, also written by Zeller, which premiered in Paris in 2012 and was subsequently shown in more than forty countries. After ‘The Father’, Zeller wrote ‘The Mother and The Son’ in the same series, which is now being made into a film.
“After working together on ‘The Father’, I couldn’t make another film without Anthony,” Zeller said in a statement today. “He was the first to read the script for ‘The Son’ because one of the characters was written especially for him. It was an honor, a blessing and very emotional for him to help us tell this new story.”
The film adaptation of ‘The Son’ also stars Hugh Jackman, Laura Dern and Vanessa Kirby. Jackman and Kirby play a couple who have just welcomed a baby when his ex-wife (Dern) suddenly shows up on the doorstep with their teenage son, played by the relatively unknown Zen McGrath. The role Hopkins plays is not yet known.
