 An alarming trend: hundreds of dead dolphins are washed up on the coast of France

Nearly 1,000 dead dolphins have washed up on the Atlantic coast of France in recent times, indicating a worrying trend.

According to France24, more than 400 have been found ashore in the last week alone. .

According to a preliminary examination, some of the dolphins had already been dead for several days before being released to the coast, and some even for several weeks.

Most of the dolphins were found to have been injured from various fishing equipment or boat engines.

In the period 2017-2020, 850 individuals were washed ashore in the winter. Usually, by March, mammals approach the coast in search of food. In total, at least 910 dead dolphins have been recorded lately.
