An artificial intelligence system has been developed and launched in Seoul that detects suicides.
The algorithm detects the behavior that is typical of those who want to jump off the bridge. If a person stays on the bridge for too long, the neural network will enlarge his image in order to more closely examine his behavior and confirm his tendency to commit suicide.
Then the system sends a signal to the nearest rescue service.
The technology was developed at the Seoul Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Disaster Headquarters in cooperation with the Seoul Institute of Technology.
The department noted that 572 cameras are connected to the control center, which is difficult for an ordinary person to track and respond in time.
“But now the artificial intelligence system selects footage of a person exhibiting suspicious behavior and sounds an alarm so that rescue teams can respond much faster,” said a spokesman for the department.
