In the city of Lisichansk, Luhansk region, where active shelling continues, the bodies of civilians are buried in a mass grave. They were killed by Russian military attacks, according to The New York Times.
The mass grave is located on the outskirts of Lysychansk, which is controlled by Ukrainian defenders. The grave is a long open trench. According to the military, it contains the bodies of 300 people who died as a result of shelling in Lisichansk, Severodonetsk and Rubizhny in recent months.
The mass grave contains the bodies of civilians who have no relatives who could pick up and bury them. The Ukrainian defenders explained that the trench could not be filled in because the equipment was aimed at building trenches.
