Two Indian states have issued an alert for reported cases of enteroviral vesicular stomatitis (hand, foot and mouth (HFMD)), according to the BBC.
Thus, in the state of Kerala, 80 cases of the disease were reported.In this regard, the authorities of the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu issued warnings.
It is noted that the sick children, all under the age of 5 years, recovered after treatment.
Enteroviral vesicular stomatitis is manifested as a rash on the extremities and lesions of the oral mucosa.In some cases, the disease can lead to infection of the brain.
The disease is caused by two different viruses – Coxsackie-A16 virus and enterovirus -71 It is not yet clear which virus caused the outbreak in Kerala.
