The organizers of the prestigious literary man Booker prize announced the winner of the award Golden Booker. Best book of the last 50 years was recognized by the novel the English patient by canadian writer Michael Ondaatje, informs Rus.Media.

Five nominees were selected from among all 52 previous winners of the Booker, whose works were written in English and published in Britain and Ireland. Voting for the winner was held June 25 on the website of the award.
“The English patient – this is the rare novel that penetrates the skin and insists you again and again let him back in, each time bringing surprise and delight,” – said at the awards ceremony, jury member, writer Kamila Shamsi.
