By 2050, Russia’s population will fall to 133 million people, according to the report of the expert Committee of the Department of economic and social Affairs of the United Nations.

According to the forecast of researchers, then, compared with year 2015, the population of Russia will shrink by almost 20 million people, informs Rus.Media.

The average life expectancy in Russia today is 72.5 years. Experts have previously described the causes of low life expectancy, high consumption of alcohol, poor diet and a sedentary lifestyle.

At the same time in the countries of Central Asia, UN predicts a population increase:

  • The number of inhabitants of Tajikistan will increase from 8.5 to 14.5 million
  • Turkmenistan – from 5.5 to 7.8 million

The largest increase is expected in Uzbekistan. There are a number of residents will increase by 10 million people – to 40.9 million.
