Petro Poroshenko and Kurt Volker discussed the prospect of the introduction of UN peacekeepers in the occupied part of the Donbass and the need for the release of the hostages.
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the special envoy of the US state Department on Ukraine Kurt Volker at the meeting in Kiev on Wednesday noted the importance of the introduction of the UN peacekeeping mission in the occupied territory of Donbass and discussed the issues of cooperation in the defense sphere between the two countries, reports Rus.Media.
“Interlocutors discussed situation in Donbas and noted the importance of the deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission in its occupied part. Petro Poroshenko and Kurt Volker underscored the need for the immediate release of Ukrainian hostages,” – said the press service of the head of state following the meeting.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in the field of security and defense between Ukraine and the USA, strengthening of partnership of Ukraine with NATO and energy security taking into account the risks incurred by the project “Northern stream-2”.
In addition, the parties discussed the progress and support of Ukraine on the way of reforms, particularly in the field of fight against corruption.
