Kramatorsk Mayor Alexander Goncharenko said that 160,000 people had been evacuated from the city. Another 50,000, about a quarter of the population, remain.
“These are the same people who did not leave the city in 2014. They were during the fighting. Someone does not want to leave housing, someone does not want to look for life in another city. The city is getting ready, fulfilling all military tasks. Everything that is needed, the city has already done in 40 days of the war. For us, the war is not the first time, despite the more serious weapons that are bombing us. We have passed 2014 and people do not panic,” he said.
